Martha J. Knowlton

August 16, 1924 — June 1, 2021

WORCESTER-Martha J. (Robbins) Knowlton, 96, passed away Tuesday, June 1 at home.

Her husband, Leland Prentice Knowlton, a US Marine who served in the South Pacific during WWII, died in 1999. She leaves two sons, Kirk A. and his wife, Cheryl A. Knowlton of Worcester and Leland "Prent" P. Knowlton, Jr. of Worcester; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. A grandson, Aaron Knowlton and a sister, Audrey Benson predeceased her. She was born in Worcester, daughter of Ralph and Alma Keating(Tomkins) Robbins. Martha was proud of the fact that her family founded the town of Walpole, MA and fought in the King Philips War.

Martha or "Sis" as she was affectionately known as to many of her friends, was always someone others could turn to for sisterly love, advice and support. She was a loving and caring person who dedicated her life to helping others. Martha loved volunteering and being involved with local charities. She was especially proud of giving of her time and energy to the Worcester Junior League, the Girls Scouts of America and various organizations to fight cancer and support our veterans.

Funeral and Burial Services are private. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to a local charity in Martha's name. There is nothing that she would love more. Arrangements are in the care of Callahan Fay Caswell Funeral Home, 61 Myrtle Street.
