Martha F. Miller

March 9, 1921 — April 28, 2010

Leicester
Martha Frances (Richards) Miller died peacefully at home in Leicester on April 28 at age 89.
Martha was the beloved wife of the late Stanley J. Miller for 55 years, who died in 2001. She was the beloved mother of a son, Stanley E. Miller of Leicester; a daughter, Suzanne Pierce, of Loudon, TN; and the beloved grandmother of William Kay, III of Worcester. Martha leaves two beloved sisters, Joyce Bean of Cape Cod and Helen Daley of Thousand Oaks, California.
Martha was born in Worcester, the eldest of five children of the late Alice (Meakin) Richards and Joseph Richards. She graduated from the old South High School where she played field hockey and basketball.
A child during the years of the Great Depression, Martha lived a life of hope, love and joy. She and her husband, Stanley, worked together in a wide variety of endeavors. They spent a lifetime of happy travel throughout North American, Europe and the Middle East.
Whether painting, working in her craft shop to make cut-and-pierced lampshades, or planning and planting her cherished, flower, gardens, Martha was always happiest when producing something of beauty.
During the past 9 years, Martha enjoyed spending her days serving as a volunteer greeter at the St. Vincent Hospital Medical Center.
A member of St. Peter's Parish, Martha was quietly and devoutly religious and lived life according to one of her favorite verses from St. Francis de Sales: "Make yourself familiar with the angels, and behold them frequently in spirit; for without being seen, they are present with you."
The Funeral Mass and burial will be private. Arrangements under the care of CALLAHAN & FAY BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 61 Myrtle St., Worcester. To place an on-line condolence, please visit. www.callahanfay.com
