WORCESTER- Martin J. "Marty" Kelly, 93, formerly of 26 Hooper St., passed away Sunday, October 28 in Hermitage Nursing Home. His wife of 51 years, Anna S. (Sullivan) Kelly passed away in 1991. He leaves a son, Paul F. Kelly of Worcester; two daughters, Margaret M. Kelly of Worcester and Kathryn A. Burton of Edgewood, KY; five grandchildren, Kevin and Christopher Kelly of Worcester, Stephen Kelly of Holden, Bryce Burton of San Diego, CA and Sean Burton of Edgewood, KY; seven great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two sons, John T. Kelly in 1993 and Martin J. Kelly, Jr. in 2004 and also several brothers and sisters.
He was born in Worcester son of John E. and Mary (Murphy) Kelly, lived here all of his life and was a lifelong member of Our Lady of Fatima Church. Marty worked at U.S. Steel for 30 years, retiring in 1971 and also worked at the Worcester Public Library. He was a member of AFL-CIO United SteelWorkers local 1885, IBO-Elks and he was an avid golfer.
The funeral will be held on Wednesday, October 31 from CALLAHAN & FAY BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 61 Myrtle St., with a Mass at 10:00 AM in Our Lady of Fatima Church, 43 Belmont St. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery. Visiting hours will be Tuesday, October 30 from 5:00-8:00 PM in the funeral home.
