WORCESTER-Mary B. "Maura" (Leahy) Horgan, 79, passed away Saturday, February 8, 2020 at home surrounded by her loving family.
Mary was born and raised in Killarney, Ireland daughter of Patrick and Christine (Sullivan) Leahy and at the age of 21, she moved to the United States. Mary was a longtime member of St. Christopher Church. She worked as a recreational therapist at Worcester State Hospital for 37 years before retiring. Mary was a loving "Grammy" to her beautiful grandchildren and enjoyed babysitting them throughout their childhood. She took great pride in her family and created a warm and happy home for everyone, including her loving puppy and constant companion, Brady.
Mary's husband of 47 years, Patrick Joseph Horgan predeceased her in 2012. She is survived by three daughters, Noreen Horgan, Patricia Horgan and Ellen Horgan all of Worcester; five grandchildren, Jack Horgan and his wife Kalee, Alicia and Alby Vanasse and Travis and Kayla Troio and great granddaughter, Mia Vanasse. Mary also leaves two sisters, Joan and Bernadette Leahy in Ireland and she was also very close to her family and friends along with her nieces, nephews and her sister-in-law Bina Cronin and her husband Michael back in Ireland.
Visiting Hours to celebrate Mary's life will held Wednesday, February 12th from 4:00–7:00 PM at Fay Brothers Funeral Home, 1 West Boylston Street, West Boylston. The funeral will be held Thursday, February 13th from Fay Brothers Funeral Home, West Boylston with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in St. Christopher's Church, 950 West Boylston Street, Worcester. Burial will follow at St. John's Cemetery.
