Mary C Belluardo

Mary C. (Herring) Belluardo, 90, died Thursday, December 1, 2022 in the Jewish Healthcare Center, Worcester.

Her beloved husband Samuel F. Belluardo died September 7, 2019.  She leaves two step-sons James Belluardo of New York, NY and John Belluardo and his wife Vickie and their daughter Katie of Jasper, GA and nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by two brothers Joseph Herring and William A. Herring, Jr. and a sister Barbara Sylvia.

Mary was born in Teaneck, NJ, daughter of William and Claire (Corkery) Herring.  She graduated from Cathedral High School in Springfield and entered the Sisters of St. Joseph from Holy Name Parish in Springfield in 1950.  She earned an AB degree and a M.Ed from the College of Our Lady of the  Elms.

Mary taught in Holyoke, North Adams and Springfield before becoming the first religious education coordinator for the diocese of Worcester. After leaving the community in 1971, Mary taught  at Springfield Technical Community College, Mount Wachusett Community College and retired Pro-Emeritus from Quinsigamond Community College in 1998.

Mary was the past secretary and president of the Calvary Guild of the Passionist's Retreat Center and an associate of the Sisters of St. Joseph, the Passionist and the Sisters of Notre Dame. Mary served as a Minister of the Holy Communion at several city  nursing and long term care centers. She was also a member and lector and served as the Director of Spiritual development at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church.

Family and Friends will gather Tuesday, December 6 at 10am at Fay Brothers Life Celebration Home, 1 West Boylston St. A Funeral Mass will be held at 11am in Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, 111 Worcester St. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to her a church, a place she so loved.
