Mary L. Carey

Mary L. (Handlin) Carey, 94, of Oxford, formerly of Oakhurst St. Worcester died Sun., March 8 in St. Vincent Hospital.
Her husband, Robert E. Carey died in 1995. She leaves a daughter, Joan and her husband Wallace Green of Oxford; three grandchildren, Jenn Luman, Rob and Dottie Byron; six great-grandchildren, Brittini, Naydene, Brianna, Austin, Brandon and Savanna and nieces and nephews. She was born in Worcester, daughter of James E. and Mary (Kane) Handlin. She graduated from North High School and St. Elizabeth Hospital School of Nursing.
Mary was a Nurse at the former Worcester City Hospital for many years, retiring in 1977. She was a member of St. Roch's Church and a former member of St. Joan of Arc Church in Worcester.
The funeral will be held Fri., March 13, from CALLAHAN & FAY BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 61 Myrtle St. Worcester with a Mass at 10 AM in St. Roch's Church, 332 Main St. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery, Worcester. Visiting Hours are Thurs., March 12 from 5 to 8 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to St. Roch's Church 332 Main St. or the Oxford Senior Center, 323 Main St. both Oxford, 01540.
