Mary Ellen DeMaio 88 of West Brookfield, MA passed away peacefully on Saturday April 29, 2023, surrounded by her loving family. Mary was born in Worcester on December 28, 1934, to Agnes and Dennis Reidy. She is pre-deceased by her brother Francis (Sonny) Reidy, brother James Reidy and her loving husband Robert DeMaio, Sr. Mary is survived by her lifelong best friend and sister Theresa Reidy, two sons Robert S. DeMaio, Jr. with Sue Benoit of Southbridge and Anthony J DeMaio with wife Laurie DeMaio of North Brookfield, three daughters Darlene F. Larsen with husband Alan Larsen of Punta Gorda, FL, Lorraine A.     Mary was blessed with ten grandchildren Nicholas, David, Erin, Maggie, Felicia, Amanda, David, Anthony, Katie & Caitlin as well as 15 great grandchildren with whom she made many loving memories through the years.

Mary was a hairdresser for 28 years but found her passion in volunteering for her community and especially her church where she enjoyed teaching children of all ages CCD. She had a love for collecting porcelain dolls and was happy to go through her collection with anyone that came through the door. The beauty and tranquility of the ocean was not lost on her as one of her favorite places was the beach in Maine. Her family spent many vacations at Wells, York and Nantasket beach. As her children grew up, she would then take her grandchildren to the beach for the day and even join them making music videos, playing arcade games and other fun activities they will never forget. She truly enjoyed spending time with her family and at the end of her life loved sitting in the back yard by the pond talking with her great grandchildren.

Mary’s family would like to thank the nurses of Care Central VNA & Hospice for their wonderful care and compassion for Mary in her final days.

Family and friends are invited to visitation from 9:30-10:30 AM on Friday, May 5th in Callahan, Fay & Caswell Life Celebration Home, 61 Myrtle Street, Worcester.  A funeral mass will follow at 11:00 AM in Sacred Heart-St. Catherine of Sweden Church, 600 Cambridge Street, Worcester.  Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery, Worcester.
