Worcester - Mary-Ellen Gagan, 67, passed away Tuesday, July 7th at the Rose Monahan Hospice House after a 5 year battle with cancer.

She leaves her brother, Michael Gagan and his wife Michelle (Inman) of Sutton; two nieces, Olivia and Julia Perry whom she adored; an aunt, Joan Murphy of Charlestown, RI and many cousins. She was born in Worcester, daughter of Francis J. and Marie T. (Murphy) Gagan and graduated from the former Holy Name High School and Becker Junior College.

Mary-Ellen was a 45-year employee of UMASS Memorial Medical Center working in the Division of Gastroenterology until her retirement in May of 2025. She also worked part-time at the former Central Mass Magnetic Imaging Center and later at Shields MRI. She enjoyed going to Woo Sox games and summer days at Hampton Beach.

Visiting Hours are Sunday, July 12th from 2 to 5pm at Callahan Fay Caswell Funeral Home, 61 Myrtle St. A Funeral Mass will be held Monday, July 13th at 10:30am in St. Peter’s Church, 22 Church Ave., Northbridge. Burial will follow in St. John’s Cemetery, Worcester. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to support the Rose Monahan Hospice House care of the VNA Hospice Program at www.vnacare.org
