Mary H. (Rockett) Henchey 87, of 15 Tamar Ave. died Friday, October 25 at Saint Vincent Hospital at Worcester Medical Center after an illness.
Her husband Hector A. Henchey died several years ago. She leaves two daughters, Helen H. Anctil of Hubbardston and Susan A. Soden of Leicester with whom she has lived for the past year, a sister, Molly Fennell of Worcester, four grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and several nephews and nieces.A son William A. Henchey of Worcester died in 1960. She was born in Worcester, daughter of Edward and Helen (McNicholas) Rockett. She graduated from Sacred Heart Academy.
She was a Librarian for the Worcester Public Library, retiring from the Billings Square Branch in 1981.
She was a member of Our Lady of Lordes Church. She volunteered at the Mustard Seed, Jeremiah Inn, Saint Vincent Hospital and its Day Care. She received the Key to the City for her many years of dedicated service. She was an avid reader.
A Funeral will be held Monday, Oct. 28 from Fay Brothers Funeral Home (www.faybrothers.com) 9 Hammond St. with a Mass at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Lordes Church 1290 Grafton St. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in Maplewood Cemetery, West Upton. Calling Hours are Sunday, Oct. 27 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Leicester Fire and Ambulance Fund 3 Washburn Square Leicester 01524
