Mary E. (Murphy) Johnson, 78, of the Life Care Center of Auburn, formerly of Mt. View Ave., died Wednesday, March 4, at St. Vincent Hospital at Worcester Medical Center, after an illness.

Her husband, Henry U. Johnson died in 1964 and a son, Michael H. Johnson of Auburn died in 1991. She leaves several cousins. She was born in Worcester, daughter of George and Anna (Terrill) Murphy. She graduated from South High School and Worcester City Hospital School of Nursing.

She was a nursing supervisor at the former Worcester City Hospital for several years, retiring in 1983. She was a member of St. Joseph's Church and the Worcester City Hospital Alumni of Catholic Nurses.

The funeral will be held Saturday, March 8, at 10 a.m. in Fay Brothers Funeral Home 9 Hammond St., (www.faybrothers.com) Worcester. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery, Worcester. Calling hours at the funeral home are Friday, March 7, from 4 to 6 p.m.
