WORCESTER: Mary Madeline (Fell) Leazes, aged 104, peacefully passed away on Wednesday, July 3 in her home after a brief illness. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Francis J. Leazes, Sr. in 2007. Mary is survived by her son Francis J. "Chip" Leazes, Jr. and his wife Audrey J. Laforge of Providence, Rhode Island, and her two cherished grandchildren Dylan F. Leazes and Abbie J. Leazes.

Born in Worcester to Michael T. and Abbie J. (Connors) Fell, Mary was a 1936 graduate of Commerce High School. She worked at the Worcester Market, Rockwood Sprinkler and the American Steel and Wire Co (South Works) usually as a bookkeeper. She held a special place within the Ascension and then St John’s Parish community.

Mary's passion for baking brought joy to all around her, as she lovingly assumed the role of the family's unofficial pie, cake and cookie baker. Known for her warm hospitality, she took great pleasure in orchestrating family holiday gatherings, and delighted in spending time with her grandchildren and her many nieces and nephews. She had a keen memory and was able to tell family, neighborhood and Worcester stories that often dated back 90 plus years.
