Mary Lenis

October 12, 1918 — March 21, 2011

WORCESTER-Mary (Poulos) Lenis, 92, passed away Monday, March 21, 2011.

Her husband of 53 years, Stephen A. Lenis died in 1997. She leaves two daughters, Catherine Hanson of Worcester and Chris Ann Groccia and her husband Ralph of Shrewsbury; two grandchildren, Kurt Hanson and Stephanie Mastrogiacomo; a great granddaughter, Samantha; two brothers, Ted Poulos of Connecticut and Joseph Poulos of New Hampshire. Two sisters, Rita Cissoupolos and Effie Contos and a brother, Tom Poulos predeceased her.

Mary was born in Manchester, NH on October 12, 1918, the daughter of Christos and Chrysoula Poulos. She and her husband owned and operated Bright Star Dairy Bar for many years. Mary enjoyed cooking, knitting and animals. She loved spending time with her family and friends and will be missed by all that knew her. Mary was a long time member of St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral.

The family would like to thank the staff at Beaumont Nursing & Rehabilitation Center for the wonderful care given to Mary during her time there.

Visiting hours will be on Wednesday, March 23 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at CALLAHAN & FAY BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 61 Myrtle St. The funeral service will be held on Thursday, March 24 at 10:00 AM at St Spyridon Cathedral, 102 Russell St. Interment will follow in Hope Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 102 Russell St., Worcester, MA 01609
