Mary Ann Looney

WEST BOYLSTON- Mary Ann (O'Toole) Looney, 84, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 21, 2020 at Notre Dame Long Term Care Center.

She was the beloved wife of the late Andrew J. Looney who died in 2003.

She was born in Worcester on August 25, 1935 a daughter of the late Thomas and Mary (O'Keefe) O'Toole. She attended local schools and graduated from St. Peter's High School before attending St. Vincent Nursing School. From there Mary Ann began a career in healthcare and worked as a Registered Nurse with St. Vincent Hospital where she specialized in IV Nursing. Following her career in the hospital Mrs. Looney was a school nurse with the Worcester Public School system having worked at St. Peters, Flagg Street School and finally, Cantebury Street School where she retired in 2000.

A devout Catholic, she was a longtime member of Our Lady of the Rosary Church and was also involved with the Guild of Our Lady of Providence. She enjoyed traveling and taking cruises, especially to Aruba, Bermuda and Cape Cod. She volunteered her time in many health clinics through the church and in her spare time enjoyed gardening, reading and shopping at Home Goods.

She will be forever loved and missed by her daughter, Mary Beth Lambert and her husband, Robert of Shrewsbury; two sons, Andrew P. Looney of Florida and John T. Looney and his wife, Deborah of Hampton Falls, New Hampshire; three grandchildren, Nicholas Looney, Megan Lambert and Ryan Lambert.


Family and friends will gather to celebrate her life on Friday, January 24th from 1:00pm until 4:00pm at the Fay Brothers Life Celebration Home, 1 West Boylston St., West Boylston and again on Saturday, January 25th from 8:30am until 9:30am in the funeral home with a funeral Mass to follow at 10:00am at Our Lady of the Rosary Parish, 23 Fales St., Worcester. Burial will be held at St. John's Cemetery, 260 Cambridge St., Worcester
