West Boylston
Mary D. (Doborowicz) Materas, 89, of 38 Edgewood Ave. died Friday, Jan. 20, in Knollwood Nursing Center.
She leaves her husband of 68 years, Alfred P. Materas, Sr., a son, Alfred P. Materas, Jr. and his wife Judith of West Boylston, a brother, Walter Doborowicz of Shelton, CT; three grandchildren, Alfred P. Materas III of Grafton, James A. Materas of West Boylston and Kevin J. Materas of Athol; three great-grandsons, Maxwell J. Materas and Scott A. Materas both of West Boylston and Alfred P. Materas IV of Grafton and several nieces and nephews. She was born in Seymour, CT, daughter of Victor and Mary (Bokyawicz) Doborowicz and graduated from Stone College in New Haven, CT. She lived many years in Monterey, moving to West Boylston 23 years ago.
Mary was an accountant for many years at Fairview Hospital in Great Barrington, retiring 25 years ago. She was a member of Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, its womans club and past president of the Hall of Famers. She was an avid bowler.
The funeral will be held Monday, Jan. 23, from FAY BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 1 W. Boylston St. with a Mass at 11 a.m. in Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, 111 Worcester St. Burial will be in Mt. Vernon Cemetery. Visting hours are Sunday, Jan. 22, from 2 to 5 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Assoc. 330 Congress St., 5th Floor, Boston, MA 02210 or to VNA Care Network, 120 Thomas St. Worcester, MA 01608.
