Mary (Der Bagdasarian) Mooshagian

WORCESTER- Mary (Der Bagdasarian) Mooshagian, 89, passed away on Thursday, June 3, 2021 at UMass Memorial Medical Center.

She was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on September 12, 1931 a daughter of the late Richard Der Bagdasarian and Elizabeth Garabedian. Her family resided in Pennsylvania until she was three years of age when they relocated to Connecticut. Following her graduation from high school she attended Teachers College of Connecticut where she earned her Bachelor's degree and later earned her Master's degree from the University of Hartford.

Mrs. Mooshagian was employed in the Worcester Public School system for many years before transferring to Leicester Public Schools where she retired from as a social studies teacher. She also taught at the elementary level and business at the secondary level. Mary was a longtime member of the Armenian Church of Our Saviour where she was active in the Daughters of Vartan. An avid baker, she enjoyed cooking traditional Armenian dishes. Mary loved attending functions, local shows, shopping, and traveling with her family throughout the country and abroad. She was a very generous and caring woman whose family meant the most to her and she supported all of them tremendously.

She leaves behind her loving children, Mark Mooshagian of Worcester; Melanie Picard and her husband, Richard of West Hartford, CT; three grandchildren, John Mooshagian, Renee Picard and Justin Picard; She also leaves her brothers, Ara Der Bagdasarian and his wife, Renate and Nshan Der Bagdasarian; her aunt, Jennie Garabedian; several nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

She was predeceased by her loving husband, Madieros "Marty" Mooshagian; her daughter, Marcia Mooshagian and her brother, John Der Bagdasarian.

Family and friends are invited to visiting hours from 9:30am until 10:30am on Wednesday, June 9th at the Callahan, Fay & Caswell Life Celebration Home, 61 Myrtle St., Worcester. A funeral service will follow at 11:00am at the Armenian Church of Our Saviour, 87 Salisbury St., Worcester. Burial will follow at Hope Cemetery. Flowers will be welcome or memorial donations be made to the Armenian Church of Our Saviour, 87 Salisbury St., Worcester, MA 01609.
