Mary T. (Scanlan) Ruby, 87, of Auburn, died Friday, September 20, in St. Vincent Hospital-Worcester Medical Center, Worcester, after an illness.
Her husband, Ernest Ruby died in 1992. She leaves two nephews, James P. Burns of Worcester and James J. Scanlan of Hillsdale, NJ; two nieces, Anne T. McCrory of Hillsdale, NJ. and Mary Ellen Scanlan of Alexander, VA. A brother, James T. Scanlan of Hillsdale, NJ; and a sister, Helen A. Burns of Worcester, predeceased her. She was born in Worcester, daughter of James J. and Annie (Kane) Scanlan. She was a secretary for the Worcester Housing Authority for many years before retiring several years ago, previously she worked for the W.H. Lee Milk Co. for several years. She graduated from St. Peter's High School and the Salters Secretarial School. She was a member of the North American Martyrs Church, the Woman's Guild at St. Peter's Church and it's Tuesday Afternoon Club.
The funeral will be held Tuesday, September 24, from Fay Brothers Funeral Home 9 Hammond St., Worcester, with a Mass at 10 a.m. in North American Martyrs Church 8 Wyoma Dr. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery, Worcester. Calling hours at the funeral home are Monday, September 23, from 6 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to North American Martyrs Church 8 Wyoma Dr., 01501.
