WEST BOYLSTON
Matthew J. Solitro, 90 of 6 Evergreen Ave., West Boylston died Wednesday, May 20th peacefully at home, in his sleep surrounded by family and people he loved.
He leaves his loving wife Della (Gagnon) Solitro, A son, Al and granddaughter Katherine with whom he lived. He also leaves three daughters, Theresa Haymann and her husband Perry of Nashua, NH, Maryjo DiPietro of Worcester, and Toni Latino and her husband Christian of Auburn. In addition to his granddaughter he leaves eight grandsons, David, Matthew, Mark, Jeremy, Matthew, John, Anthony & Michael.
Born in 1918 in Worcester to Anthony and Lena (Micelli) Solitro and lived most of his life in West Boylston. He was predeceased by two brothers, Michael and Vito Solitro, and two sisters, Mary Allen and Josephine Lovell.
Matthew always saw his family as his greatest and dearest accomplishment but he also had three different careers. He served in the Navy during WWII and the Korean War. He later worked for the West Boylston Public Schools for 20 years as a Bus Driver and Custodian. He also worked at Parker Metal in Worcester for 20 years.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 9-11 a.m. on Saturday, May 23rd at Fay Brothers Funeral Home, 1 West Boylston St. West Boylston. The funeral service for Mr. Solitro will be held immediately following the calling hours at 11 a.m. on Saturday in the funeral home. Burial will be in Mount Vernon Cemetery.
