Maureen L. LaRock

WORCESTER-Maureen L. (Griffin) LaRock, 92, died on Wednesday, July 24th in Dodge Park Rest Home.

 Her husband of 48 years, George F. LaRock, Jr. died in 2000. She leaves a sister Judith M. Gauthier and her husband Donald of Sutton, a brother-in-law Ronald Canane of Tamarac, FL and many nieces, nephews, grand nieces and nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her brother Joseph P. Griffin and a sister Kathleen A. Canane.

 Maureen was born in Worcester, daughter of Thomas M. and Lillian M. (Stewart) Griffin. She graduated from South High School. She was a member of Our Lady of the Angels Parish. She worked at Paul Revere Life Insurance Co. for 12 years as an actuarial supervisor, she then took a job as an administrative assistant for the City of Worcester Fire Department, retiring in 1988. She was a longtime active member and past president of the Worcester Emblem Club. She was a former member of the Red Hat Society. She loved Cape Cod where she and George spent much of their time enjoying their home in South Yarmouth. She enjoyed painting and photographing seascapes.

 Visitation will be held on Monday, July 29th from 9:45 -11:00 AM in Our Lady of the Angels Church, 1222 Main Street, Worcester followed by a Mass at 11:00AM. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery, Worcester. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to The Society of St. Vincent de Paul, P.O. Box 319, Grafton, MA 01519. Callahan, Fay & Caswell Life Celebration Home, 61 Myrtle Street, Worcester is directing funeral arrangements.
