AUBURN-Melissa M. Rydstrom, 60, passed away Tuesday, May 21 in her home.
She leaves two sisters, Beverly I. Bylund of Auburn and Barbara Phelan and her husband, Thomas of Charlton; several nieces and nephews; grand nieces and nephews and great-grand nieces and nephews. A brother-in-law, James R. Bylund, Sr. predeceased her. She was born in Worcester, daughter of Olaf and Myrtie (Horton) Rydstrom and graduated from South High School.
Melissa attended programs at the Sevens Hills Foundation for many years. Melissa was known to her family and friends as a “part-time angel” who was full of love and joy, but also sassy. She enjoyed bowling, shopping, swimming, going to dances and doing her artwork. Melissa also loved dogs and celebrating birthdays and holidays. She was a member of Emanuel Lutheran Church.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at the Life Care Center and to her former long-time caregiver, Julian Miru for their years of compassionate care and love.
A Visiting Hour will be held Wednesday, May 29, from 10 to 11am with a Funeral Service at 11am in Callahan Fay Caswell Lindquist Funeral Home, 61 Myrtle St. Burial will follow in All Faith Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Emanuel Lutheran Church, 200 Greenwood St., Worcester, 01607.
