Michael F. Falvey, 76, passed away peacefully on January 3, 2019 at St. Vincent Hospital.
He was born in Worcester on September 13, 1942 a son of the late Edmund F. and Nellie (Sabonaitis) Falvey. He was raised in Worcester and attended St. John's High School where he graduated in 1960. From there he matriculated to Becker Junior College where he received a degree in 1963. For many years, Michael worked as a mail handler for the United States Postal Service. He served his country proudly in the United States Coast Guard.
Mr. Falvey was an active member of the Vernon Hill American Legion Post 435, The Knights of Columbus Alhambra Council 88 and a parishioner of St. John's Church in Worcester. He enjoyed going to the beach but his passion was discussing sports. As the taverns and bars in the city changed a constant was Mike sitting with his friends discussing his favorite teams.
He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by his daughter, Kerri L. Boudreau and her husband, Steve of Ostervile; his grandchildren, Kelsie O'Connor, Katie Boudreau and Mason Boudreau, all of Osterville; his siblings, Dorothy Van Keuran of Jupiter, FL, Gerald Falvey, Carol Fraini and her husband, Fred of Auburn, David Falvey and his wife, Mary Ann of Shrewsbury and Sharon Falvey of Shrewsbury; many nieces, nephews and extended family members and many friends.
Besides his parents, Michael was predeceased by six siblings, Kathleen Pescaro, Robert Falvey, Rev. Edmund Falvey, James Falvey, Richard Falvey and Francis Falvey.
Family and friends will celebrate his life by gathering for visiting hours on Tuesday, January 8th from 4:00pm until 7:00pm at the Callahan, Fay & Caswell Funeral Home, 61 Myrtle St., Worcester. A funeral Mass will be celebrated by his nephew, Fr. Fred Fraini at 10:00am on Wednesday, January 9th at St. John's Church, 44 Temple St., Worcester.
