PAXTON-Michael F. Looney, 73, of 1 William Allen Drive, died Sunday, August 21 in U MASS Memorial Healthcare after being stricken ill at home. He leaves his wife of 49 years, Eleanor F. (Donahue) Looney, a daughter, Eileen A. (Looney) Quinn, wife of Thomas P. Quinn of Paxton, a son, Michael F. Looney, Jr. of Paxton, three grandsons, Thomas P. Quinn, Jr., Timothy M. Quinn both of Paxton, and Michael C. Looney of Shrewsbury, four sisters in law, Mary Ann Looney of W. Boylston, Mary Shea of Worcester, Irene Daly and Bernadine wife of Tor Sather, all of Henderson, NV, many nephews, nieces, great nephews, great nieces and cousins both here and in Ireland. He was predeceased by a brother Andrew J. Looney and a sister Marion T. Sarsfield.

He was born in Worcester, the son of Andrew J. and Nora M. (O'Connell) Looney. He graduated from St. Stephen's High School and Worcester Junior College with a degree in Business Management. He was a member of the 181st Inf. Army National Guard. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War where he served as a corporal and received the Good Conduct and National Defense Service Medals. He played on the basketball and baseball championship teams for both St. Stephen's High School and the National Guard.

Mr. Looney was the Northeast Region District Manager for Gerber Products, Co. for 36 years, retiring in 1992. He was a member of St. Columba's Church where he was a former CCD teacher, Main South American Legion Post %23341, Paxton American Legion Post %23306 where he also served as an adjutant and was responsible for sending boys to Boys State. He was a former member of Hillcrest and Holden Hills Country Clubs and Alhambra Knights of Columbus %2388, and a 4th degree Knight as well as a former baseball coach for the Ty Cobb and Paxton Little Leagues. Michael enjoyed summers on Cape Cod with his family, golf, bowling, hockey, baseball, basketball, attending Ice Cats games and being with his grandsons and his many friends.

The funeral is Thursday, August 25 from FAY BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 1 West Boylston Street, W. Boylston with a Mass at 10:00 AM in St. Columba's Church, 18 Richards Avenue, Paxton. Burial will be in Worcester County Memorial Park. Calling hours are Wednesday, August 24 from 5:00 until 8:00 PM in the funeral home.
