Michael E. "Mickey" Mard, 95, of Worcester passed away Fri., Jan 2 in the Autumn Village.
He leaves his wife, F. Clarie (Holden) Mard; three children, Michael H. Mard and his wife Barbara of West Boylston, Sandra Polselli and her husband Richard of Long Island, NY and Cynthia Dagnello and her husband John of Worcester; ten grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Six siblings, Anna Vieraitis, Katherine Langevin, Leo Mard Sr., Mary Faucher, Helen Kangas and Francis "Sonny" Mard, predeceased him. He was born in Worcester, son of Frank and Catherine (Grady) Mard, graduated from Sacred Heart High School and was an Army Veteran of WWII.
Mickey was a firefighter for the City of Worcester serving on Engine 11 and Ladder 6, retiring from the Greendale Station. He was also a member and past treasurer of the Local %23107 Carpenters Union. He was a Boxing Commissioner for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, was active in local and state politics for the democratic party and was a member of Our Lady of the Rosary Church.
A Funeral will be held Mon., Jan. 5, from FAY BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 1 West Boylston St. with a Mass at 11 AM in Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, 111 Worcester St. Burial will be private.
