Worcester- Michael "Oke" O'Connell, Jr. died peacefully while surrounded by his loving family on June 27, 2015, at the age of 84.
He leaves behind his sweetheart and wife of 64 years, Marion (Davis) O'Connell. He is survived by his children: Gale Garrity and husband Michael of Fullerton, CA, Michael III "Chip" O'Connell and wife Joann of Wheelwright, Sean O'Connell and wife Judene of Rutland, Thomas O'Connell and wife Tammy, Deborah Mahoney and husband Joseph, Cheryl Carlson and husband James, Erin Thomson and husband William, and Michele Porier; all of Worcester. He also leaves 14 adoring grandchildren, as well as 12 great-grandchildren. He is predeceased by 2 brothers and 3 sisters.
He worked for many years at Johnson Steel and Wire, and is a retired maintenance worker from All America. He is best remembered as a family man, who loved teasing his grandchildren. He had a song or a dance for everyone he happened upon, whether it embarrassed them or not. We are certain he is singing Irish songs in heaven.
Calling hours are Wednesday July 1st from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Callahan, Fay & Caswell Funeral Home, 61 Myrtle St. followed by a Mass at 11:30 am at St. John's Church, 40 Temple St. Burial will be at St. John's Cemetery.
