Nancy Marie Davis

HOLDEN-Nancy Marie (Cronin) Davis, 82, died Tuesday, January 12, 2021 at the Jewish Healthcare Center in Worcester.
She was predeceased by her husband, Dr. John W. Davis, Jr., on February 3, 2016 and their daughter, Erin Anne Davis, on June 27, 2016. Nancy is survived by her son, John Patrick Davis, and her daughter, Christine L. Davis, a brother-in-law, Neil S. Davis and his wife Katherine, a niece and three nephews. She was also predeceased by her sister, Christine Mullaney, a niece and two nephews.
Nancy was born in Worcester, daughter of Francis and Mabel (McGurl) Cronin and graduated from North High School. She graduated from St. Vincent Hospital School of Nursing with her nursing diploma and nurse anesthesia certificate, Clark University with a BS, cum laude, and MHA, and Anna Maria College with her MSN, summa cum laude. Nancy held staff anesthetist positions in New Jersey, Massachusetts, and Maine while her husband completed professional school and military commitments. She also held other positions during her career, including Administrator for the Departments of Anesthesiology and Family and Community Medicine, respectively, at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center, and Chief Nurse Anesthetist at UMass Memorial Medical Center.
She was a member of Immaculate Conception Church with her family for more than 40 years. Nancy was a voracious reader and her love of reading compelled her to volunteer many hours to the Literacy Volunteers of Greater Worcester. She also volunteered as a member of the Human Rights Committees for the New England Center for Children and the Seven Hills Foundation. She enjoyed many hobbies, including knitting, quilting, sewing, and swimming.
Nancy's Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, January 19th at 10:00 am at Immaculate Conception Church, 353 Grove Street in Worcester. All are invited to gather directly at the Church. Burial will follow at St. John's Cemetery. There are no visiting hours.
