WORCESTER-Nancy E. (Simmons) Hogan, 94, of Worcester went home Sunday, June 27.
Her husband of 59 years, William L. Hogan died in 2012. She leaves five children, William L. Hogan, Jr. of Barre, Bruce E. Hogan of Kansas City, MO, Nancy D. Mayou and her husband, James of Mashpee, Rebecca A. Sullivan of Worcester and Shirley A. Berkiel and her husband, Francis of Worcester; fourteen grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Two daughters, Betty-Jo Hogan and Donna Knight; a son-in-law, Robert Sullivan; a brother, Frank Simmons and two sisters, Lucy Morrow and Marion Racine predeceased her. She was born in in Plainville, daughter of Wesley S. and Alice E. (Herring) Simmons and graduated from, Classical High School, Eastern Nazarene College and Worcester City Hospital School of Nursing.
Nancy served as a 2nd Lt. in the US Army and was a Veteran of the Korean War.
Nancy was a registered nurse for 43 years, at the former Worcester City Hospital and Fairlawn Rehabilitation Hospital. She was a charter of the Church of the Nazarene, where she taught Sunday school and was active as the Church Mission President several years ago. Nancy enjoyed spending her winters in St. Petersburg, FL with her husband. She also loved to read.
A Funeral Service will be held Thursday, July 1 at 11am in Callahan Fay Caswell Life Celebration Home, 61 Myrtle St. Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Visiting Hours are Wednesday, June 30 from 5 to 7pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to, Faith Baptist Church, 22 Faith Ave., Auburn, 01501 to benefit the Clearway Clinic.
