Nereida Ayala

WORCESTER- Nereida Ayala, 83, passed away in her home surrounded by her loving family on May 1, 2019. She was the wife of the late Felix Isaac who passed away in 1989.

She was born in Carolina, Puerto Rico on March 21, 1936 a daughter of the late Juan P. Ayala and Maria T. Perez. Mrs. Ayala will be remembered as a kind and loving mother to her nine children. She enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, playing dominos and was always joking around with her family and friends. Nereida had strong faith and enjoyed attending church where she sang and praised God. She had a love for shopping especially at Sears and the Dress Barn and never turned down a good deal, especially on shoes. She was fortunate enough to be able to travel throughout her life most recently back to Puerto Rico this past year.

She leaves behind her children who will miss her dearly, Luis R. Cox, Edwin G. Cox, Sonia M. Cox, Maria Cox, Hector R. Cox, Angel D. Cox, Elizabeth Cox and Felix Isaac; a brother, Jose L. Ayala and a sister, Hilda Ayala; twenty-two grandchildren, forty-six great grandchildren and seven great-great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members and friends.

Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a son, Juan J. Cox who died in 1998. She was also predeceased by her siblings, Pedro Ayala, Aida Ayala, Rosa Ayala, Juan Ayala and Sonia Ayala.

Family and friends will gather to honor, remember and celebrate her life on Monday, May 6th from 5:00pm until 8:00pm at the Callahan, Fay & Caswell Funeral Home, 61 Myrtle St., Worcester. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, May 7th at 10:00am at the La Senda Antigua Church, 2 Woodland St., Worcester. Burial will follow at Notre Dame Cemetery.
