WORCESTER- Nicholas A. Tasi, 92, passed away on November 15, 2022, at home surrounded by his loving family.
Nicholas was born in Worcester on November 11, 1930, son of the late Dhimitri K. and Kleanthi (Leka) Tasi. He was raised in Worcester and graduated from Classical High School where he excelled at trumpet playing in the band. Nicholas went on to attend Worcester Junior College where he graduated with an associate in arts in 1965 and later, Clark University where he earned his bachelor’s in business administration in 1970.
Mr. Tasi began his career working at Indiana Screw of Worcester. Later, he was a bookkeeper and office manager at JD Transportation in Worcester and Northeast Marine Industries in Oxford. He also worked part time in the men’s department of Jordan Marsh at the Worcester Galleria.
Gifted in the arts, Nicholas wrote many poems, novels, and plays, notably “Boxer” a ten-minute play that was read at the Women’s Program at the Ohio State University and “The Marriage
Bed” which was selected and read at the Knoxville Public Library in January of 2009. Two of his poems, “Mid-Night Gust” and “Chanticleer” were published in the Summer 1969 issue of Poet Lore. Above all he cherished time spent with his family and especially enjoyed seeing his grandchildren grow up.
He leaves behind his beloved wife of 57 years, Julia (George) Tasi; his sons, James M. Tasi, and John M. Tasi and his wife Audra, and their children, Michael T. and Julia R. Tasi; and many cousins in the United States, Albania, Greece and Romania.
The funeral service will be held on Friday, November 18th at 11:00am at St. Mary’s Assumption Albanian Orthodox Church, 535 Salisbury St., Worcester. Visiting hours will be at the church prior to the service from 9:30am to 11:00am. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary’s Assumption Albanian Orthodox Church, 535 Salisbury St., Worcester, MA 01609.
