Nora L. McKiernan

November 6, 1937 — March 14, 2011

WORCESTER-Nora L. (Roberts) McKiernan, 73, passed away Monday, March 14, 2011 after a brief illness.

Her husband of 41 years, George F. McKiernan died in 1996. She leaves her five children, Anne Marie Belhumeur of Worcester, Catherine Knox and her husband Kevin of Spencer, Patricia Mello and her husband Michael of Millbury, Mary Reed and her husband Raymond of Worcester and Michael McKiernan and wife Lynn of Auburn; twelve grandchildren, Brian, Neal, Lynn, Katie, Danielle, Alisha, Brandon, Meghan, Erin, Thomas, Alison and Angela and seven great grandchildren. She also leaves her sister, Teresa A. Roberts of Worcester and her brother and sister-in-law, John and Doris McKiernan of Auburn, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son, Joseph P. McKiernan in 1994.

Nora was born in Worcester the daughter of Raymond H. and Anna A. (Deroska) Roberts and graduated from Commerce High School. She worked as a teacher's aide at Gates Lane School for many years before retiring. Nora was a member of St. Peter's Church. She enjoyed spending time in Florida in the winter and Maine in the summer.

The family would like to give a special thanks to the 8th Floor Bone Marrow Unit at UMass Memorial Healthcare-University Campus.

Nora's funeral will be on Thursday, March 17 from CALLAHAN & FAY BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 61 Myrtle St. with a Mass at 10:00 AM at St. Peter's Church, 931 Main St. Interment will be Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, March 16 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
