MILLBURY- Norma G. (Anderson) Bergman, 88, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 17, 2017 at Knollwood Nursing Center surrounded by her children.
She was born in Worcester on September 12, 1928 to the late George F. and Louise M. (Yahn) Anderson. Norma graduated from Commerce High School in 1946. She then went on to attend Hahnemann School of Nursing and graduated in 1949. Mrs. Bergman began her nursing career working at Hahnemann Hospital in the Maternity Ward. Eventually she left the hospital and worked at the Lutheran Home for the Aged, where she was employed as Head Charge Nurse/Nurse Supervisor until her retirement.
Mrs. Bergman is predeceased by her beloved husband, Donald E. Bergman, Sr. and her son, Eric Bergman whom she is now with. She was a lifetime member of Emanuel Lutheran Church where she and Donald were married on May 6, 1950. They were blessed to be able to celebrate 61 years of marriage. Spending time with her family at the holidays, especially on Christmas Eve, gave her great joy. She loved camping with her family and friends at Island Pond, trips to Nova Scotia, Point Judith and going for car rides around the Quabbin Reservoir. She enjoyed baking Swedish pastries and was always up for a good game of cribbage.
She is survived by her loving children, Sharon Bisceglia and her husband, Joseph of Holden, Donald Bergman and his wife, Susan of Leicester, Kristine Robbins and her husband, Lee of Millbury and Karen McCann and her husband, Michael of Worcester; and a daughter-in-law, Cindy Bergman of North Brookfield. She is also leaves her nine grandchildren, Katherine Holton, Emily Defazio, Donald Bergman, Timothy, Samantha and Chelsea Bergman, Patrick and Lauren McCann and Mitchell Robbins and seven great grandchildren.
The family wishes to express their sincerest gratitude to Summit Elder Care and her extremely dedicated Personal Care Assistant, Crista, for the care and love they provided making it possible for her to stay home until the end.
Visiting Hours will be held on Saturday, January 21st from 9:30am until 11:00 am at LINDQUIST-LUNDIN Funeral Home, 36 Butler St., Worcester. A Funeral Service will follow at 11:30am at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, 200 Greenwood St., Worcester. Burial will follow at All Faiths Cemetery, 7 Island Rd., Worcester.
