Patricia M. (Friend) O‘Connor, 79 of 39 First St. died Saturday, Jan. 31st in Clearwater, FL. She leaves her husband of 56 years, Ret. WPD Lt., Daniel F. O’Connor, Sr.; 4 sons, WPD Vice Detective, Daniel F. O’Connor, Jr. of Rutland, Ret. WFD Capt. Kevin M. O’Connor of Paxton, Timothy J. O’Connor and WPD Lt. William P.O’Connor both of Rutland; 2 daughters, Patricia Stone of Auburn and Kathleen Allard of Warrington PA; 2 brothers, Paul Friend of Oxford and Daniel Friend of San Diego, CA; 3 sisters, Kathleen Friend and Ann Goodrich both of Mt. Dora, FL and Frances McConnell of Ft. Myers, FL; 11 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two brothers, William and James Friend and a sister, Margaret Hanson.

She was born in Worcester daughter of William and Johanna (Butler) Friend and lived here all of her life. She graduated from Commerce High School. She was a member of the 39ers Club and a former member of St. John’s Church. She was also a volunteer at The Chapel by the Sea, Clearwater Beach, FL. She spent much of her time knitting, her latest project was winter hats for needy children. She was an avid reader with a passion for mystery novels.

The funeral Mass will be Wednesday, February 4th at 10:00 AM in St. John’s Church, 40 Temple St. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours. FAY BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 9 Hammond Street is directing arrangements. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. John’s Church, 40 Temple St., Worcester, MA 01604.
