WORCESTER-Paul B. “Butch” Coffey, Sr., 82 passed away Tuesday, June 6 at St. Vincent Hospital.
He leaves his wife of 58 years, Margaret M. “Peggy” (O’Grady) Coffey; four children, Michael P. Coffey and his wife, Charlene of Jefferson, Kathleen M. Coffey of Worcester, Daniel J. Coffey and his wife, Kristan of Paxton, James J. Coffey of Worcester, and predeceased Paul B. Coffey Jr.; six grandchildren, Colin and his fiancée, Miranda Prentiss, Patrick, Brendan, Kayleigh, Connor, and Olivia; a daughter in law, Theresa A. Coffey of Oakham; a brother-in-law, Ralph “Ray” O’Grady of Holden, and many nieces and nephews. His brother, Jeremiah Coffey, as well as his sister, Mary Hullinger, predeceased him. He was born in Worcester, son of Daniel and Anna (Quinlivan) Crowley and was a graduate of St. Peter’s High School, where he lettered in football and basketball.
Paul worked for the City of Worcester School Department Special Education Transportation Dept. for 42 years before retiring. He was a member of St. Peter’s Church, the Knights of Columbus Alhambra Council #88 and its golf league. He enjoyed cheering on the Red Sox, family summer trips to Hampton Beach, and days on the golf course. But his greatest joy was spending his days with the love of his life, Peggy.
The family would like to thank the Worcester Fire Department, Worcester EMS, St. Vincent Hospital Pulmonary Care Unit / ICU for their loving care.
