Worcester- G. Paul Donahue, 89, passed away peacefully on November 4, 2023, at the Christopher House.
His beloved wife Nancy C. (Burns) Donahue passed away in 1993.
He was born in Worcester on September 30, 1934, a son of the late George and Grace (Kneeland) Donahue. Paul graduated from St. Peter’s High School where he excelled as a three-sport athlete and captain of the baseball and basketball teams. He was also a two time All City athlete in baseball.
He enlisted in the United States Army to proudly serve his country and following his discharge he began working at Iandoli Supermarkets for many years. Later, Paul was employed as the head of purchasing for Quinsigamond Community College. He was a longtime member of the Main South American Legion Post.
Paul was an avid New England sports fan and a die-hard fan of Notre Dame Football. He enjoyed spending summers at Hampton Beach and wintering in both Boynton Beach and Del Ray Beach, Florida but above all, he cherished time spent with his loving family.
He leaves behind his daughters, Karen Welch and her husband, Jack of Rutland and Cheryl Donahue and her longtime companion, Howard Tyndall of Worcester; two grandchildren, Michael Sparhawk and Matthew Welch; two nieces.
Besides his wife and parents, Paul was predeceased by his brother, Robert Donahue and his longtime companion, Franny Phelan.
Paul's family would like to thank the staff on the Hillside Unit at Christopher House for the special and loving care given to him.
Family and friends will gather to celebrate Paul’s life with a visiting hour on Friday, November 10th from 9:30 until 10:30am at the Callahan, Fay & Caswell Life Celebration Home, 61 Myrtle St., Worcester. His funeral Mass will follow at 11:00am at St. Peter’s Church, 929 Main St., Worcester. Burial will be at St. John’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations requested to Dana Farber Cancer, 450 Brookline Avenue, SW120, Boston, MA 02215.
