Peter J. DePatsy, 66, of West Boylston passed away peacefully on March 5, after a long illness. Though he struggled for many years, his challenges never stopped him from being there for others, especially helping his brother Jack around the house and other family members, whom he was always willing to help in any way he could.
Peter was born in Leominster, the son of the late Celeste (Armillotti) and William DePatsy. He was raised in West Boylston and graduated from West Boylston High School, where he played football.
As a young man, Peter loved spending time outdoors and especially cherished playing hockey with his siblings and neighborhood friends on the lily ponds behind his home. He also enjoyed playing frisbee football where he was known for his ability to throw the disc remarkably far — all memories that remained close to his heart throughout his life.
Peter had a deep appreciation for birds and animals, especially his cats, and he enjoyed simple pleasures such as playing ping pong, hockey games, electronic football games and going to Grateful Dead concerts. He was also very artistic and talented, known even for his remarkably neat handwriting.
A skilled and dependable handyman, Peter worked for many years as a general contractor and laborer for several businesses, including family businesses. He spent time living in California with a friend, Buddy Nichols, where he learned the craft of masonry and formed many lasting friendships. He took pride in working with his hands, helping others whenever he could, and making friends along the way.
Peter also enjoyed the social side of life. He loved visiting the Blue Plate Restaurant, where he often spent time enjoying a few beers with friends. Many people around town came to recognize Peter during his long daily walks, as he was known to walk miles throughout West Boylston and was a familiar and friendly face in the community.
Peter will be remembered for his kind heart, his willingness to help others, and the many friendships he built over the years.
He leaves many behind who will miss him dearly including his sister Debbie (DePatsy) Quist; his brother Jack DePatsy with whom he lived; 7 nieces and 2 nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Nancy (Reidy) DePatsy, whom he loved with all his heart, his parents, and brothers Bill and Mike DePatsy.

There will be no public services per Peter's request.
