WORCESTER-Peter L. Guild, Sr., 78, of Bilthewood Ave. died Wednesday, March 29 at home.
He leaves his wife of 19 years, Helen W. (Brown) Guild. His first wife of 31 years, Margaret "Shirley" (Greene) Guild predeceased him. He also leaves a daughter, Pamela M. Newton of Slidell, LA; two sons, Peter L. Guild, Jr. of Sutton and Paul F. Guild of Auburn; two sisters, Sister Catherine Guild, Sisters of Mercy of Worcester and Mary Riello of Pittsfield; six grandchildren, and a godchild, David Cervantis of Georgia. Three brothers, Donald, Robert and Loren Guild and a grandson, Mark Newton predeceased him.
He was born in Pittsfield the son of Ralph B. and Catherine (Donlon) Guild and graduated from St. Joseph's High School. Mr. Guild was a WWII Army veteran serving in the European Theater. Peter worked at Wyman Gordon, Grafton for 37 years retiring as lead foreman in the forge shop. After retirement he studied stain glass and became a professional stain glass artisan. He was an avid reader and cook. He and his wife Helen traveled extensively to Egypt and the Orient making many friends in Hong Kong. Peter was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Church and attended Park Congregational Church where he was a greeter and usher.
The funeral will be Friday, March 31 from CALLAHAN & FAY BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 61 Myrtle St. with a Mass at 10:00 AM at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 1290 Grafton St. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery. Visiting hours will be Thursday, March 30 from 5:00 until 8:00 PM in the funeral home.
