Listen to Obituary

Peter M. Shoreys (84), of West Boylston, MA passed away peacefully on June 2, 2026 after a period of declining health. Though his body grew tired, his spirit remained steady, gentle, and full of quiet strength until the very end.

Born in Brooklyn, NY Peter lived a life defined by love, loyalty, and a deep devotion to the people he cared for. He was a cherished husband, bub dad, and Ampa and his presence brought comfort, steadiness, and warmth to every room he entered.

Peter began his career with David Clark, and soon after, he and his new bride, Jane, moved to Houston, Texas, where he worked at the Johnson Space Center. After several meaningful years there, the couple relocated to Cape Canaveral, Florida, where Peter played a vital role in the development of the space suit program. In this work, he collaborated closely with the astronauts of the Apollo and Gemini missions, contributing his skill and steady brilliance to some of the most significant achievements in space exploration. His efforts, while quiet, meticulous, and deeply dedicated, helped support the men who would go on to make history. When his time in the space program came to a close, Peter continued his professional journey in Massachusetts’ high‑tech industry, bringing the same humility, curiosity, and unwavering commitment to every role he embraced.

Peter served honorably in the Massachusetts National Guard. He was a lifelong member of the Knights of Columbus Council 88 in Worcester, Massachusetts, and also dedicated many years of service as Vice President of Our Lady of Good Counsel, St. Vincent de Paul.

Peter will be remembered for his contribution to the world; the world was and will forever be a better place because of him. A man of deep humility and quiet grace, he never missed a chance to share his love, offering it freely to his family and to anyone fortunate enough to cross his path. While his accomplishments were many, his greatest love was for his grandchildren, who will carry the imprint of his love in their hearts for the rest of their lives.

He is survived by his wife Jane, daughters Michelle (David Gallant), Estelle (David Catanese), brother Francis, nieces and nephews, and his most cherished grandchildren, Jack (Julia Kelley), Anthony, Ethan, and Sofia. He will live in our hearts forever, guiding us even in his absence. He was preceded in death by his son Aaron, parents Alfred and Anastasia Shoreys, and sister Patricia Kearney, whom he now joins in peaceful rest.

A funeral Mass will be held on Monday, June 8th at Our Lady of Good Counsel, West Boylston at 11:00 A.M, where family and friends are invited to gather and honor Peter’s life.

A gathering of family and friends will be held after the burial at the Manor Restaurant, West Boylston, MA.

In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations to Veterans Inc., 69 Grove St. Worcester MA 01605 or Our Lady of Good Counsel, Society of St. Vincent de Paul; organizations meaningful to Peter.

The family extends their heartfelt thanks and deepest gratitude to the staff at the Lutheran Home, especially Nurse Mary, Bill, and Yaya, who provided extraordinary care, compassion, and dedication. Their kindness and support will never be forgotten.

Though his absence leaves an ache that cannot be measured, the love Peter gave—steadfast, gentle, and true will continue to guide those who knew him. His memory will remain a blessing, and his legacy will live on in the hearts he touched.
