SUTTON-Philip Schroeder, 81, of Sutton, passed away Tuesday, December 1, 2015 at Care One at Millbury, after an illness with his family by his side.


He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Ruth F. "Penny" (Brink) Schroeder; a son, Steven C. Schroeder and his fianc%C3%A9e Evelyn Morrow of Sutton; a daughter, Donna J. LaCava of Sutton and her partner Gary Griffin and a brother, Robert A. Schroeder of Grafton. He also leaves four grandchildren, Michael LaCava, Steven LaCava and his partner Melissa McInerney, and Timothy and Andrew Schroeder; three great grandchildren, Hayleigh, Aiden and Anthony; nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by two brothers, David and Donald Schroeder.


He was born in Worcester, son of Carl and Florence (Johnson) Schroeder and graduated from Millbury High School in 1952. He then joined the Navy and served during the Korean War. Phil worked for Wyman Gordon Company for 36 years before retiring on December 1, 1999. He was a member of the Dudley Gendron American Legion Post%23 141, a lifetime member and past Director at Large of the Singletary Rod and Gun Club, where he was an avid trap shooter. He was also a former Mason of the Millbury Olive Branch Lodge, past president and coach of the Sutton Little League and volunteered at UMass Memorial Hospital. Phil was an avid New England Patriots and Boston Red Sox fan.


Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, December 8 from 4-7 pm at LINDQUIST LUNDIN FUNERAL HOME, 36 Butler Street, Worcester. A graveside interment of ashes will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Assoc./American Stroke Assoc., PO Box 417005, Boston, MA 02241-7005.
