WEST BOYLSTON-Philip Steenstra, 64, of West Boylston passed away Saturday, November 5 in the Life Care Center of Auburn.
He leaves two sons, Steven W. Steenstra of Marathon, FL and Henry P. Steenstra of West Boylston and a sister, Arline Steenstra of West Islip, NY. He was born in West Islip, NY son of Frank and Elsie Steenstra. He served on the West Islip Fire Department before moving to Massachusetts to attend and graduate from Worcester Polytechnic Institute.
Philip owned and operated the former Village Automotive Shop. He owned the shop for many years before closing it to become the fleet mechanic at All in One and More Installation. Phil had a love for anything relating to engines. He enjoyed muscle cars, especially GTOs. He had a great mind for inventing anything mechanical that had to do with cars and could fix anything. He was known among his friends as the Town Fix It. He often would say "if man made it we can fix it". Phil loved flying model planes, racing cars and playing chess. He was proud of the fact that he still holds the land speed record for racing stock small pickups. Phil had a dry sense of humor and enjoyed doing stand-up comedy and karaoke. He was a member of Our Lady of Good Counsel Church.
