Phyllis (Filanthi) Pantazis

WORCESTER: Phyllis (Filanthi) Pantazis, died peacefully on Saturday, August 15, 2026.

She was born in Tsamantas, Epirus, Greece on February 17, 1934 to Stavros and Marina (Raptis) Karagianis. Her husband, Odysefs predeceased her in 2017, as did her son, Pavlos who passed away unexpectedly in 2025. Additionally, her only sibling, her sister Angeliki, also predeceased her. She emigrated to this country in 1951 and worked for several factories in the Worcester area as a stitcher while raising her family. She leaves her son, Fotios and his husband Lee Bell of Charleston and New York City; her daughter, Marina Prifti and her husband Michael of Paxton; and four grandchildren, Nicole and Alexander Pantazis, and Danielle Factor and Peter Prifti. She loved cooking and spending time with her family. Due to the late onset of several chronic illnesses, Phyllis spent her last years in the care of the incredible staff at Holy Trinity Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

The Funeral Service will be held at 10AM on Wednesday, August 19, in Saint Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 102 Russell St., Worcester. Please meet directly at the Cathedral. A private burial will follow in Hope Cemetery. Calling Hours will be held from 5 until 7PM on Tuesday, August 18, in the Callahan Fay & Caswell Funeral Home, 61 Myrtle St., Worcester.
