Phyllis Jane Sandvos

June 3, 1934—December 4, 2023

Phyllis Jane Sandvos of Northboro, age 89, died peacefully on December 4, 2023.

Like her loving husband, William, “Pops,” Sandvos, she was surrounded by loving family in her final days. Phyllis was raised in Riverdale, Illinois, just outside of Chicago, near her lifetime beau, William. Phyllis and William married in June of 1953 and raised six children. Their life was full of adventure and love as their lives found homes for them in Illinois, California, Ohio, Florida, North Carolina and finally Massachusetts.

Phyllis was a pillar of strength for William, the six kids, grandkids and great grandkids. She was a loving and devoted daughter, sister, mother, wife, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. Her passion was the arts. She spent many hours with her pastel drawings which adorned her children’s living room walls. Phyllis was humble and passionate about her works of beauty; she could also knit, sew and take on any artistic challenge with fervor. She also had a passion for politics and the world at large and her core was unconditional love for her family. Phyllis was married for 68 years before William’s passing in June of 2022. Asked why she married him? She replied she knew life would never be boring with Bill. It was, indeed, a life well lived.

Phyllis leaves behind her six children: Jay and his wife Elissa, Jill and her husband Don; Scott and his wife Kate; Tracy and her husband Jim; Paul and his wife Danielle; and her daughter Katie. Grandchildren: Chris, Lexi, Pavel, Becki, Shannon, Lindsey, Corey, Stefan, Will (who she joins in heaven), Nell, Eileen and Colleen. Great Grandchildren: Isabella, Lucas, Rosalyn, Marley, Damian and Natalie. Services will be private and are in the care of Fay Brothers Life Celebraiton Home, 1 West Boylston St., West Boylston.
