SUTTON-Raymond D. Bergeson, 76, died at home on Friday, July 16 surrounded by his family. His wife of 48 years, Barbara J. (Ahlen) Bergeson died in 2005. He leaves his son, Carl R. and his wife Penny Bergeson of Sutton; two daughters, Ronde K and her husband Bob Rousseau of Sutton and Lynn B. and her husband Paul Dahlin of Sutton; four grandchildren, Leah and Steven Dahlin and Kelsey and Kyle Bergeson. He also leaves his sister, Betty Bernard of Sutton, his brother in law, Roy Ahlen and his wife Marilyn of Millbury, his sister in law, Dorothy Ahlen of Lafayette, NJ and many cousins, nieces and nephews. His sister, Ruth Lafayette predeceased him.

He was born in Bridgeport, CT the son of C. Herbert and Hildur A.E. (Nilsson) Bergeson. Raymond attended Worcester and Millbury Schools, graduated from Worcester Academy in 1952 and Upsala College in Orange, NJ in 1956. He was a Vietnam War Army veteran and served from 1956 until 1958. Mr. Bergeson worked in his family business, Svea Baking Company from 1958 to 1960 and served as President and Treasurer from 1961 to 1975. Following the Baking Company he served as Central Mass District Sales Manager at Pepperidge Farm from 1978 until his retirement in 1988.

Mr. Bergeson was former director and chairman of the supervisory committee of Millbury Federal Credit Union, Past President and Secretary of the former Millbury Kiwanis Club, former member of the Whitinsville Golf Club, Scandinavian Athletic Club, Sutton Community Players Club, Sutton Men's Club and the Lake Singletary Watershed Association. He was also a member of the Olive Branch Lodge AF & AM in Millbury, Scottish Rite Bodies, Worcester Lodge of Perfection, Goddard Council Princess of Jerusalem, Lawrence Chapter Rose Croix, Boston Consistory, Aleppo Temple Shrine, Wilmington, MD.

He loved boating and sailing with good friends, the Lake, traveling and especially spending time with his grandchildren.

The family would like to give special thanks to UMass Memorial Hospice for the wonderful care given to their father during his illness.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 24 at 11:00 AM in Zion Lutheran Church, 70 South Main St., Oxford. Burial will be private. There are no visiting hours.
