WEST BOYLSTON-Raymond J. Gallant, 79, of West Boylston passed away Thursday, March 2 in UMASS Medical Center.
He leaves his companion and wife of 27 years, Winnie (Burnham) Gallant; four children, Deborah and her husband, Steven Potvin of Holden, Donna and her husband, Barry Beaulac of West Boylston, Anne Marie Gallant of Worcester and Michael and his wife, Cheryl Gallant of Worcester; a sister, Eileen and her husband, William Brisebois of Brookfield, four grandchildren, Michael, Derek, Erin and Quinn; three great-grandchildren, Lilly, Raymond and Madilyn and nieces and nephews. A son, Robert Gallant and a sister, Elizabeth Newcombe predeceased him. He was born in Worcester, son of Raymond J. and Mary M. (Kelleher) Gallant and graduated from Assumption Preparatory School and served in the United States Air Forces.
Raymond worked for the Worcester Regional Transit Authority for 32 years, retiring as the Manager of Operations. He was member of the Knights of Columbus and active at the Harold N. Keith American Legion Post, where he enjoyed playing in the pitch, cribbage and horseshoe leagues. Ray also loved to golf with his friends at Bedrock County Club. His true passion was traveling the world with Winnie, most recently along the Danube River in Eastern Europe.
Visiting Hours are Monday, March 6 from 4 to 6PM with a Prayer Service at 6PM in FAY BROTHERS Funeral Home, 1 West Boylston Street. Burial will be in the Spring in High Plains Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Neady Cats, PO Box 213, West Boylston, 01583 or to the charity of your choice.
