Raymond E. Reynolds

WORCESTER - Raymond E. "Ray" Reynolds, 85, passed away on Thursday, July 13, 2017, with loving family at his side, following a hard-fought battle with Parkinson's disease.

Ray leaves his wife of 63 years, Maureen B. (Hughes) Reynolds; sons James H. Reynolds and his wife Dayle, John R. Reynolds and his wife Lynne, Thomas P. Reynolds and his wife Elizabeth, daughters Patricia A. Lahair and husband Robert, and Carol T. Berard and husband Raymond; grandchildren James and wife Meghan, Brian, David, Kelly and husband Jayson, Mary Katherine and fianc%C3%A9 Henry, Michael, Christina, Savannah, Thomas, and Lily, and great-grandson Brady; brothers John, and his wife Marcia, and Leonard; a sister, Mary Barry, a brother-in-law, Raymond MacQueen; and many nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by a sister, Helen MacQueen, and a brother, James Reynolds.

Ray was born in Worcester on February 4, 1932, son of Carl and Deborah (Moriarty) Reynolds, and lived in Worcester all of his life. He was a U.S. Army Veteran and served in the Korean War. He was a long-term and active member of the American Legion Post 341, where he also served as Commander.

He worked for many years for New England Telephone Company and AT&T and, following a brief retirement, returned to work for more than 20 years in the Physical Plant Department at the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester.

Ray was known to all as a kind and generous man, with great love for and dedication to his family, unwavering loyalty to friends, and deep faith. He was admired for his integrity, principles, good humor, and easy smile. He was an avid fan of the Red Sox and Patriots and never missed a pitch or a play.

The family wishes to thank the outstanding staff of the Jewish Healthcare Center for their compassionate care and kindness in Ray's final weeks.

Funeral arrangements are in the care of Callahan Fay & Caswell Funeral Home, 61 Myrtle Street, in Worcester. Visiting hours will be Sunday, July 16 from 2-5 p.m. in the funeral home. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, July 17 at Our Lady of the Angels Church, 1222 Main Street in Worcester. Burial will follow at Worcester County Memorial Park in Paxton. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Our Lady of the Angels Parish Building Fund, 1222 Main Street, Worcester, MA 01603.
