MILLBURY-Richard C. Angell, III, 73, died Friday, March 4, 2022 at Saint Vincent Hospital.
He was born in Worcester, son of the late Richard C. Angell Jr and Lydia "Tootsie" (Jodoin) Angell and was raised in Grafton. He was a Navy Veteran of the Vietnam War. Richard worked as a bridge inspector for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts for many years retiring in 2015. He was a longtime member of the Grafton VFW Post 1497.
Richard was predeceased by his wife, Jean M. (LeBlanc) Angell on January 5, 2021 and son, Ricky L. Desmarais in 1990.
He leaves six children; Tammy Fields and her fiancé, Joe Teti, Brian Desmarais and his wife, Laurie, and Mark Desmarais, Sr., and his wife, Debbie, all of Worcester, Tina Desmarais and Candice Merrick and her husband, Hal, all of Millbury, and Kimberly Williamson and her husband, Donny, of Douglas; thirteen grandchildren; Brian, Cindy, Kimberly, Ricky, Mark Jr. and his wife Danielle, Amanda and her husband Jacob, Michael, Destiny, Rachel, Hallet, Jeffrey and his wife Kayla, Christopher and his wife Ashley, and Steven and his wife Lilly; and sixteen great grandchildren; BriarRose, Dominic, Decklan, Davinn, Eva, Stella, Jay, Christian, Logan, Nicholas, Cameron, Eli, Branson, Raelynn, Jamenson, and Anthony, all whom he loved dearly.
Richard also leaves many dear cousins, nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by his brother, Raymond "Ray Ray" Angell and his sister, Marylou "Lou Lou" L. Wozniak.
Richard was a very social guy who loved spending time with his family and friends. He was known as "Phats" to many, and because of his passion for riding his motorcycle, he was also known as "Santa on a Harley". He loved to hunt and enjoyed his yearly trips to Maine. Richard also enjoyed fishing, both freshwater and deep sea, whenever the opportunity arose, playing cards and the occasional trip to the casino.
The Funeral Service will be held Saturday, March 12th at 10am at Callahan, Fay & Caswell Life Celebration Home, 61 Myrtle Street. Burial will follow at Central Cemetery, Millbury. Visiting Hours are Friday, March 11th from 5:00 until 7:00 pm at the funeral home.
