Worcester-Richard H. Binns, 89, passed away Tuesday, June 18 in Holden Nursing Home. He leaves his longtime companion, Cecelia Dickman and her daughter, Patricia Nordberg. He was born in Worcester, the son of Harry and Evelyn (Gullen) Binns and graduated from Commerce High School. He served eight years in the US Navy during the Korean War.
Dick or Red Dog as he was known to friends, worked as machine tool electrician for the Cincinnati Milicron division of Heald Machine Company for 30 years. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved camping, fishing and gardening. He also enjoyed trips to Sterling Airport to watch the glider planes. A special thank you to the Holden Nursing Home staff for the wonderful care they provided to Dick.
A Graveside Service will be held Monday, June 24th at 11am in section St. Thomas at St. John’s Cemetery, 260 Cambridge St. In lieu of flowers, a memorial contribution may be made to the Worcester Animal Rescue League or to Dana Farber’s Jimmy Fund Clinic.
