WORCESTER-Richard P. Johnson, Sr., 89, died Tuesday, July 24, 2018 at the Jewish Healthcare Center with his children by his side.
Richard was born in Worcester, son of the late Edward A. and Ebba V. (Fegreus) Johnson. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and served on the USS Gyatt and the USS George K. MacKenzie. Richard worked at Norton Company retiring after 29 years. He then worked in the maintenance department at the College of the Holy Cross for 10 years.
He was predeceased by his wife of 36 years, Janet (Christensen) Johnson in 1989. Richard is survived by a son, Richard P. Johnson, Jr. of Shrewsbury, a daughter, Paula E. Collins and her fiancé, Daniel O'Leary of Auburn; longtime companion, Antoinette Oster, with whom he lived, five grandchildren, Melissa, Courtney, Matthew, Casey and Chelsea, four great grandchildren, McKayla, Wiley, Cody and Lucy, a sister-in-law, Marilyn Schonning of Northbridge, and nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by two brothers, Robert and Donald, two sisters, Bernice Porter and Dorothy Sullivan, a daughter-in-law, Donna Johnson and son-in-law, Thomas Collins.
Richard enjoyed hunting and fishing and he belonged to the VFW Post 3657 on Millbury Street, the Vernon Hill American Legion Post 435, the Masonic Lodge-Olive Branch, the SAC Club and the Surfcasters Club on the Cape.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, July 28th at Lindquist-Lundin Funeral Home, 36 Butler Street with a visiting hour from 9:30-10:30 a.m. immediately followed by a funeral service at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow at All Faiths Cemetery.
