Rita M. Babineau

December 16, 1923 — July 7, 2009

WORCESTER-Rita M. (Landry) Babineau, 85, of Worcester died Tuesday, July 7 with her family by her side after a brief illness.

Her husband of 55 years, Earl T. Babineau died in 2007. She leaves two sons, E. Thomas Babineau of Aventura, FL and Mark and his wife April (Blanchard) Babineau of Albuquerque, NM; three daughters, Anne Courchaine of Worcester with whom she made her home, Theresa Laskowski of Worcester and Elaine Smith of Hubbardston; eight grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by a sister, Irene Collins of Worcester and two brothers, Madie Landry of Worcester and Wallace Landry of Millbury. Two brothers, George and Lionel Landry predeceased her.

She was born in Portland, ME the daughter of Timothy and Alice (O'Brien) Landry and was educated in the Worcester School System. Mrs. Babineau worked as a bookkeeper for the former Prudence Clothes Store of Worcester for several years. She was a member of St. Christopher's Church and was a former long time member of Holy Name of Jesus Church. She was an avid Red Sox fan. Mrs. Babineau was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister and friend who will be greatly missed. The family would like to give special thanks to Summit Elder Care and Radius Healthcare of Worcester for the excellent care given to her.

The funeral will be Friday, July 10 from FAY BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 1 W. Boylston St., W. Boylston with a Mass at 10:00 AM at St. Christopher's Church, 950 W. Boylston St. Interment will be in Notre Dame Cemetery. Visiting hours will be Thursday, July 9 from 5:00 until 8:00 PM in the funeral home.
