After several days of family by her side, Rita T. (Noel) Dion, 91, passed away Sunday, May 24th, 2026 in UMass Memorial Medical Center~University Campus. Her husband, Normand O. Dion died in 2020.
She leaves many behind that will miss her dearly including her three sons, Paul N. Dion and his husband, Allen, of Barre, Ronald J. Dion of Worcester, Wayne M. Dion and his wife, Cheryl, of Sutton; two daughters, Carol A Dion and her partner, Merrill J. Thompson, and Norma J. Dion all of Worcester; a sister, Bernice H Geer of CT; six grandchildren; five great grandsons; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents; her husband; her siblings, Ernest J. Noel, Henry J. Noel, Blanche A. Aubin, Ruth M. Mitchell, Mabel L. Charpentier, Cecile A. Linnell, Joseph V. (Sam) Noel, Alice M. Noel and Antoinette E. Huchowski and her son-in-law, Dennis N. Rosencrance.
Rita was born in South Grafton, daughter of the late Simeon and Hermeline (Laferriere) Noel and lived many years in Worcester. Being a devoted Catholic, she took pride in being a long time member of St. Christopher Parrish in Worcester. Along with being an avid reader, she found great solace and joy in birdwatching.
Rita will be remembered for her kind heart, unselfish ways, and her undying love and devotion for her family. Those who knew her share their sorrow with her passing, but will recall the warmth and happiness she brought with her. She left a legacy of true Christian love and compassion.
Family and friends are welcomed to a celebration of Rita's life with a visitation on Friday, May 29th from 9:00am until 10:30am at Fay Brothers Life Celebration Home, 1 West Boylston Street, West Boylston. A funeral Mass will follow at 11:00am in St. Christopher Parrish, 950 West Boylston Street, Worcester. Burial will be in St. Patrick Cemetery, Whitinsville at a later date.
