WEST BOYLSTON-Rita C. (Wamback) Grenier, 83, of the Hillside Village Drive community passed away Wednesday, May 27 in the Shrewsbury Nursing Center.

Her husband of 59 years, Paul G. Grenier died in 2022. She leaves two daughters, Melissa Menendez and her husband, Roy of Shrewsbury and Elizabeth Patino and her husband, Eric of Naples, ME; a granddaughter, Katie Menendez and her partner, Connor Nugent and many nieces and nephews. Seven siblings, Marie Pietrzak, John Wamback, Louis Wamback, Stephen Wamback, Joseph Wamback, Gerald Wamback and Adele Wamback predeceased her. She was born in Worcester, daughter of Locke and Elvena (Boudreau) Wamback and graduated from St. Peter’s High School in Worcester.

Rita worked in the data entry department at the former Allmerica Insurance Company. She was a member of Our Lady of Good Counsel and a former Eucharistic Minister. Rita enjoyed vacations with her family to Ogunquit, Maine and the yearly Columbus Day weekend stay at the Sparhawk. She loved quilting, watching her granddaughter dance, and cheering for the Boston Red Sox. She also enjoyed time spent with the women’s club and the book club at Hillside Village.

Visting Hours are Thursday, June 4 from 10am to 12pm with a Prayer Service at 12pm in Fay Brothers Funeral Home, 1 West Boylston St. Burial will follow in Mt. Vernon Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Catholic Charities of Worcester at www.ccworc.org
