Rita A. McCarthy

WORCESTER-Rita A. (Terry) McCarthy, 91, of Worcester died peacefully at home on Thursday, February 15. Her husband of 57 years, George L. McCarthy died in July of 2000. She leaves her children; Mary Ellen McCarthy of Arlington, VA, Anne R. Higa and her husband Michael of Aiea, HI, Eileen M. McCarthy of Worcester and Timothy F. McCarthy and his wife Maureen of Scituate; a sister, Helen T. Mahoney of Worcester; her grandchildren; Erin, Brian, Kevin, Brendan, Molly and Sheila, and a great granddaughter, Alexis. She was predeceased by her siblings, Mary F., James, Josephine, P. Joseph and John.

She was born in Worcester, daughter of Patrick and Nora (Kett) Terry and graduated from Commerce High School, Class of 1935 and Becker College. Mrs. McCarthy once worked for Brewer Pharmaceutical Company and Crompton-Knowles Company. She was a member of Our Lady of the Angels Church and its Mothers Club, the Carroll Club, the Medallion Club.

The funeral will be held on Monday, February 19 from CALLAHAN & FAY BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 61 Myrtle St. with a Mass at 11:00 AM in Our Lady of the Angels Church, 1222 Main St. Visiting hours are Sunday, February 18 from 4:00 - 7:00 PM in the funeral home. Private burial will be held in St. John's Cemetery.
