Rita C. (Griffin) Adams O'Dell, 83, a Gold Star Mother, of Worcester and Pocasset , died Sunday, December 2, in the Tobey Hospital, Wareham, after an illness.
She leaves her husband, James E. O'Dell; a son, William J. Adams of Worcester; a daughter, Margaret A. Picard of Paxton; two step daughters, Patricia O'Dell and JulieannO'Dell both of Worcester; nine grand children; six great grand children and several nephews and nieces. Her first husband, Wilfred J. Adams died in 1956. A son, Lance Corporal George F. Adams was killed in Vietnam in 1968. A stepdaughter Theresa O'Dell predeceased her. She was born in Worcester, daughter of John and Delia (Howe) Griffin and lived here most of her life while maintaining a home in Pocasset for the past 15 years.
She was a nurse's aide for many years at the Jewish Home in Worcester before retiring several years ago. She was a member of Christ the King Church.
A Funeral will be held Thursday, December 6, from Fay Brothers Funeral Home 9 Hammond St., Worcester, with a Mass at 11 a.m. in Christ the King Church 1052 Pleasant St., Worcester. Burial will be in St. Johns Cemetery, Worcester. A Calling hour will be Thursday, December 6, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home. In Lieu of flowers memorial may be made to the Mercy Centre for Developmental Disabilities 25 W.
